Lake Kivu
Lake Kivu is where a Rwanda trip exhales: a long, calm lake fringed by hills, with easygoing towns that make the perfect rest between the parks.

Where to rest
The two common bases are Rubavu (Gisenyi) in the north, close to Musanze and the volcanoes, and Karongi (Kibuye) in the center, on the way south toward Nyungwe. Both offer calm water, boat trips and a slower pace.
