Getting around Rwanda
Rwanda is compact, but its roads are mountainous and timing can surprise you. Here is how visitors usually move around, and why most choose a private driver.

The options
For getting between regions, most visitors use a private driver, a self-drive rental, or intercity buses. A private driver is the most common choice for first trips: you get local knowledge, flexible timing, and no navigation stress on winding roads. Self-drive suits confident, independent travelers. Buses are economical but less flexible for a touring itinerary.
